OBITUARY
THE HASTINGS BANNER
DECEMBER 1919
Robert Forrest Garrison, son of Robert and Jane Garrison, was born in Baltimore Twp, Barry county Mich., Aug. 12th, 1857 and died at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Burrel Phillips in Hope Twp. Dec. 24th 1919, aged 62 years 4 months and 12 days. On Dec. 31st, 1881 he was united in marriage with Charlotte Fox, who died Feb. 3rd, 1895, leaving him with 6 children. He has indeed been father and mother both. On June 1st, 1898, he was married to Della Vrooman who died in Washington, April 21st, 1916 where she had gone to visit her daughter. To this union two children were born, Greta, who died in infancy and Francis, who was burned to death at the age of four years. Mr. Garrison and all his children were born on the old homestead, the farm which he still owned, although he has spent much of his time the last years with his children. He has been a great sufferer but has been very patient through it all. His kindness will always be remembered as he was always thinking of others first. He is survived by his four daughters and two sons, Mrs. Edward Holley, Mrs. William Bryans, Mrs. Walter Farr, Mrs. Burrel Phillips, Fore and Mark Garrison. Fifteen grandchildren, four brothers, and two sisters and a host of other relatives and friends. The funeral services were held Saturday Dec. 27th, at the home of Burrell Phillips, conducted by Rev. M.E. Hawkins. Interment in the Dowling cemetery.
