Denise was born in Lawrence, Kansas on March 10, 1954. She earned her master's degree from the University of Kansas.

She had a passion for cooking for others and was a professional caterer. She also had a passion for the theatre. For four years, she wrote and directed "Behold the Lamb", an Easter Pageant at Full Faith Church of Love. She was the founder of the Christian theatre group, "Sweet Rain." Denise led the youth theatre program at West Side Family Church. Denise home schooled all three of her children.

She was preceded in death by her father, brother and granddaughter.

Denise is survived by her husband, daughter, two sons, her mother and sister and four grandchildren.
