The couple were married on April 12, 1944 and separated shortly after the birth of their daughter, actress Paola Gassman, in 1945. Following their divorce, she had a relationship with producer Francesco Rosi, from whom she had another daughter, Francesca, who died in 1969 due to injuries sustained in a car accident. She made her professional debut in 1943 in the theatrical company led by Laura Adani. During her career, she was active on stage, radio, television and in films.
