Margaret was the daughter of John Francis Seitz and Alice L. Cresswell. Margaret's parents were both natives of Illinois. Her father was from Chicago; and her mother was born to George M. Cresswell, Sr. and Mary P. (nee Freeman) Cresswell on 05 Nov 1893 in Alton, Madison County, Illinois.

Margaret's parents, John and Alice, married in Los Angeles, California on 28 Apr 1914. Margaret was born in LA on 27 Feb 1931, and the family lived in Beverly Hills, California. Her father was a renowned cinematographer for 40 years and was a 7 time Academy Award nominee.

Margaret's mother, Alice, became ill in late 1932. Tragically, she died on 07 Jan 1933 at the age of 38 when Margaret was just a toddler.

Margaret's father married Mary Catherine Boyle in 1934. Mary was in the movie business prior to their marriage.

Margaret graduated from Immaculate Heart College in Los Angeles. She married John Marhoefer in the mid-1950's. They were the parents of 7 children.

The Marhoefers lived in Indiana for a time, then moved to Wisconsin. She worked at Weber Realty in Madison. She was a member of St. Olaf's Catholic Church in De Forest, Wisconsin and did volunteer work there.

Margaret died at her home exactly 2 weeks after her 66th birthday.

She was survived by her husband of 41 years, John; 5 sons and 2 daughters-in-law; 2 daughters and 2 sons-in-law; 10 grandchildren; her step-mother, Mary Seitz; and 1 half-brother, John Seitz.

Visitation was held on 16 Mar 1997 at Edwardson-Axtelll Community Funeral Home. A prayer service took place there at 7:30 p.m. that evening. A Mass of Christian Burial was conducted at 10:30 a.m. the following morning at St. Olaf's Catholic Church in De Forest. Burial was in the church cemetery.

The family requested that memorials, if desired, be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or the American Heart Association.
