He was born in Allegan, Michigan July 7, 1954 the son of Lewis and Patricia (Adamczyk) Akers. He was preceded in death by his son Kenny Arndt and his parents.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 20 years, Annette Akers, his children Rebecca (Don) Hibma, Michelle (Carl Hoffmeyer) Roberts, Joseph Akers, Amanda Granger, Thomas (Sara) Akers; 10 grandchildren; seven siblings especially his brothers that he was extremely close to Jeff and Bobby Akers; several nieces, nephews; his father and mother-in-law Glen and Sue Jager; his very close and faithful friends Brad and Joann Lail, Thomas and Katie Rewa and Jerry’s ever faithful companion Jack.
Jerry’s family will meet with relatives and friends Friday, December 8, 2017 from 1-3pm and 6-8pm at St. Peter's Lutheran Church - 4125 18th St. Dorr, Michigan with funeral services being held at 11am Saturday, December 9, 2017 at St. Peters Lutheran Church – 4125 18th St., Dorr, Michigan. A private family interment will be in Burnips Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes contributions be directed to Kenny Arndt Scholarship c/o Hopkins Public Schools.
