VN Baklanov was the owner of a large manufacturing company, known as the " Kupavinsky Weaving Factory." He was musically gifted in nature, played the violin, and enjoyed painting landscapes and, as his daughter Olga later recalled in one of her Hollywood interviews, “was a musician and composer.” In particular, V.N. Baklanov is the author of the popular at one time Polka Song titled "Yacht Club."

During the Civil War, the Bolshevik regime took him away, never heard from again.
