March 30, 1927 – February 6, 2019

George William "Bill" Manion, Jr., age 91, of Longmont, CO, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on February 6, 2019. Bill was born in Goodland, KS to George William and Ethel Raven (Faulkner) Manion, Sr. on March 30, 1927.

He attended school in Goodland, KS graduating with the class of 1945. He served his country in the US Navy from 1945 to 1946. After being honorably discharged, Bill attended Kansas State University earning a degree in business. After trying his hand at several occupations, he felt called to teach and earned a Masters degree in elementary education from the University of Northern Colorado. He then proceeded to teach elementary students in the St. Vrain Valley School District for 27 years.

In 1954, while working in Ft. Morgan, CO, Bill met Bonnie Lea Gimple at the Methodist Church where they were both members of the choir. They were united in marriage on August 26, 1956 at Rinn Church east of Longmont. To this union two daughters were born.

Bill continued to be a fan of Kansas State University football and basketball. He cheered on the football and basketball teams of Longmont High School. He enjoyed watching the Denver Broncos and the Rockies. Traveling, golf, and telling jokes gave Bill great pleasure throughout his life. Bill was a member of the Methodist Church and Longmont Kiwanis.

Bill is survived by his wife, Bonnie; daughters, Rebecca (Brian) of North Platte, NE and Marka of Edmonds, WA; grandchildren, Bret, Kate (Jordan), Henry, Nathaniel and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a brother, Stanley L. (Eve) Manion, sister, Meredith (Ralph) Graham and son-in-law, Don Kreiman.

A memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church on 350 11th Avenue in Longmont, CO on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at 11am.
