US soldier killed in action in France in WWII, at age 21. From Brooklyn, New York, son of Mrs. Fannie Asnis. He attended Public School 45 and was graduated with honors from Mary Hopkins Junior High School. He then attended Brooklyn College. He entered the US Army August 6, 1943, receiving his basic training at Ft. Benning, Georgia. He was an Army Specialized Training Program student at Northwestern University from December 1943 to March 1944, when he was transferred to Fort Jackson, South Carolina for specialized training. He was deployed to France in September, 1944. He was survived by his mother, a brother, Frank, and a sister, Mrs. Ethel Thomas. In 1948, his remains were returned from a battlefield cemetery in France to the US, and interred on September 12th in the Jewish Montefiore Cemetery.
