Our beloved husband, father, and friend, Douglas Allen Owen, passed away peacefully in his sleep, Tuesday, February 11, 1997.

He was born March 17, 1945 in Orange County, California, to Delmar Allen and Ellen Karr Owen. He served an LDS Mission to Paris, France. In 1970, he married Jean Davis in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was a Vietnam War Veteran and continued his military career in the National Guard, until the time of his passing. He enjoyed military assignments around the world and served in the 141st Military Intelligence Battalion. Doug graduated from BYU with a masters degree in education. He taught high school for 25 years 14 years in Washington State and the remaining at Pleasant Grove High School. He was a greatly loved teacher and track coach. Doug was an avid runner and fulfilled his life-long dream of running in the Boston Marathon in 1996. He held numerous callings in the LDS Church, from Scoutmaster to bishop.He is survived by his wife, of Orem; six loving daughters and one son, Jennifer, Amy, Katherine, Janet, Diana, Jeanine, and Brian. Additional living family include his mother, Ellen; sister, Charlotte; and two grandsons, Regan and Dakota. Doug was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral services Saturday, February 15, 1997 at 2 p.m. at the Northridge Stake Center, 1674 North 200 West, Orem. Friends may call Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary, 500 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove, and at the church Saturday, one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Orem City Cemetery.
