Larry Dan Lloyd, age 75, died peacefully at his home in Orem, UT, on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 after a short yet valiant struggle with brain cancer. He was born on April 12, 1943 in Artesia, CA; he grew up in Salt Lake City, UT, and Corona, CA. He graduated from South High School in Salt Lake City, UT. He attended the University of Utah. He served in the Army Reserves from 1966 to 1972. He was founder and president of NTSI (National Traffic Safety Institute), founder and president of NCTI (National Correctional Training Institute), and founder and president of ACCI (American Community Corrections Institute), semiretired. He authored curriculum with all three companies, a total of 75 courses for habilitating criminal offenders.
Larry was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints; served a full time mission in Norway, 1962 - 1965. He served in many calling within the LDS church, including Scout advisor, Bishop’s Councilor, three different Stake High Councils, LDS Service Mission with his wife as Addiction Recovery Program leaders, staff member at two Family History Centers and a Temple worker.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ford Frances Lloyd and Ethel Louise Pedersen Lloyd; his sister, Frances Louise Lloyd Trettin; his brother, “Tom” Clark Ford Lloyd; and his son, Aron Daniel Lloyd.
Larry is survived by his wife Nora Lois Verhaaren Lloyd, their children Kirstin & James Duncan, Kari & Rex Hale, Trevor & Angie Lloyd, Cynthia & Tom Tucker, Melissa & Sione Fukofuka and their 16 grandchildren. Also, his sister Ellen Lloyd Perry, brother-in-law Tom Perry, brother-in-law Dennis Trettin.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 1 PM at the Lakeview 2nd Ward Building (400 W 1800 S, Orem, UT ). Viewing Friday night from 7 PM to 9 PM at the LDS Church at 2168 S 140 W, Orem, UT and Saturday at 12 PM at the Lakeview 2nd Ward Building. Interment will be at the Utah Veterans Memorial Park on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at 1 PM.
