Homegoing services for Bro. Eugene A. Blocker (January 27, 1930-January 19, 2017) 86 of Bessemer, AL. Mr. Blocker was educated in Jefferson County Schools, graduating from Brighton High School in 1948. Further matriculation includes graduating from Alabama A & M University, Normal, AL. Eugene served in the United States Army and received an Honorable Discharge. He is retired from the U.S. Postal Services in Cleveland, Ohio where he resided for over 30 years. Life memberships were held with the following organizations: Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., Alabama A & M Alumni Association, Disabled Veterans, American Legion (33rd Degree) Masonic & Shriner, and American Red Cross (Blood Donor). As a youth, Bro. Blocker united with St. Paul C.M.E. Church (now Unity), where he remained a faithful member until death.
Mr. Blocker was predeceased by his parents-Christover & Mildred Taylor Blocker; wife-Eloise Hall; siblings-Pearline B. Reatis, Christabelle B. Posey, Clyde A. Blocker, Bernice B. Kidd, and Osceola Blocker.

Cherished memories are left with his daughter-Sharon Blocker-Clark (Ronnie); granddaughters-Brittney & Kimberly Clark; great-granddaughters-Kendall and Zayah all of Cleveland OH; siblings-Betty Williams, Mildred Collier, Evelyn (James) New, Alethea (Duey) Foster, Phyllis Cochran, and Cynthia (Bennie) Smith; uncle-Oliver Blocker, Sr.; and a host of nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Final arrangements entrusted to Valhalla Funeral Home. Visitation is Friday from noon to8:00 p.m., with Family hour from 6-7 pm. Service of life will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2017, 12 noon @ Unity C.M.E. Church (Porter Chapel C.M.E.), 2701 10th Avenue, North with burial in Valhalla Cemetery.
