Andrew Minford Doran, 59, an official of Greenlee Brothers company and life-long resident of Winnebago county, died today following an operation and lengthy illness.
Mr. Doran had served with the Greenlee company for more than 34 years and was purchasing agent and assistant treasurer at the time of his death.
A former member of the Rockford board of fire and police commissioners and former director of the Rockford Chamber of Commerce, he was prominent in the city's civic life and was a member of numerous fraternal, social, and civic organizations.
Mr. Doran was a member of a prominent early farm family which settled in the New MIlford area He was born Nov. 15, 1880, the son of James Addison Doran and the former Mary Louise Minford. He attended Rockford high school and graduated with the class of 1899. Later he attended De La Salle boarding school for boys in Chicago and in 1901 returned to Rockford to take a position with the old Stevens and Deuel factory. He joined the Greenlee staff March 17, 1905.
He was a member of the Elks lodge, Knights of Columbus, (fourth degree), Rockford Country Club, Credit Men's association and Manufacturers and Shippers association.
The widow, Mabel L. Doran; a son, George Minford Doran, junior at the University of Illinois' and two daughters, Eugenie, at home, and Virginia. Mrs. J. Phillip Dunn Jr. also of Rockford survive. The Doran home is at 1930 Clinton street
