On March 15, 2019 at 6:39 p.m., Mary Jo Dobson Penrod went home to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ.
Mary Jo, born July 30, 1934 in Indianapolis, IN, former resident of Brazil, IN, took her last breath of life at Owen Valley Health Campus in Spencer, IN.
Mary Jo is preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy Price Loudermilk, 1995 and Byron Keith Dobson, 1987. She also is preceded by 2 husbands, Richard Duane Jackson, 2004 and Byron Silas Penrod, 2000 and a nephew David Dobson of Indianapolis.
Mary Jo is a 1952 graduate of Brazil High School where she was a member of National Honor Society. She later completed a degree in Secretarial Science from Indiana Business College. In her younger days, Mary Jo proudly worked at Bemis Bag of Terre Haute, a nurse’s aid at Clay County Hospital and a Direct Support Staff at the Adult Day Care Program of Clay County. However her proudest achievement was being Mom!
She passes the torch of life to her son, Steven R. Jackson, Spencer, IN and his wife Paula; a brother Jim Dobson, California; grandchildren Rose and Fred Pierce of Greencastle, IN; Landon Jackson, Spencer, IN; nephew Kevin Dobson, California; nieces Karen and Dana.
Mary Jo’s Gone Home Celebration will be held at French Funeral Home 421 East National Ave. Brazil, Indiana 47834 Wednesday, March 20, 2019 from 11am until 1:00pm. Services will be held at the funeral home, on Wednesday, at 1:00 p.m. with Ernie Rush officiating. Burial will follow at Summit Lawn Cemetery.
