Martha Gibbs, 84, of 128 Monday Lane, Eutawville, departed this life on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at The Regional Medical Center, Orangeburg. Memorial service will be held 1:00PM Friday, September 25th at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Holly Hill. Burial will be private.

Martha Ann Gibbs was born in Eutawville, SC on May 11, 1931 to Laura Wright and Jesse Davis. She was raised by her grandmother Minnie W. White. On December 7, 1949 she was united in marriage to the late Edgar Gibbs and from this union came nine children.

She was known to many as "Marthann," she was a seamstress, avid gardener, and cook. She was baptized as one of Jehovah's witnesses on March 27, 1971 and at various times she served as an auxiliary pioneer. She was never too busy to encourage, to assist those in need, or to render aid. She was known for her strong faith in bible principles which she instilled in her children.

Martha Ann is preceded in death by three brothers, Louis Baker, Julius Baker, and Edward Baker; one sister, Annie R. Thomas; and one son-in-law, Bob Greene.

She is survived by her nine children: Fannie (Sylvester) Jones of Raleigh, NC, Mary (Lawrence) Green of Eutawville, SC, Martha (Lee) Gaillard of Santee, SC, Christine Greene of Seneca, SC, Charles (Linda) Gibbs of Eutawville, SC, Michael Gibbs of Goose Creek, SC, Kenneth (Gail) Gibbs of Port Wentworth, GA, Rolonda (Harold) Sanders of Eutawville, SC, and Kara Gibbs of the home; two sisters, Minnie Ann Baker of Eutawville, SC and Shirley P. Buchannan of Bronx, NY; one brother, Robert Lee Baker of Bronx, NY; 20 grandchildren of which 5 grandsons have served as Bethel volunteers, 21 great grandchildren, a special cousin, Samuel Clark (Dupont) and a lifelong best friend, Nellie Wright and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
