Ray resided in Van Buren for most of his life. He was a Farmer and a Logger in the Timber Industry. He was a born again Christian. He enjoyed turkey hunting and spending time on the river with family and friends. He especially loved talking about the old days and old ways with anyone who would listen, and was often found sitting around telling lies with Bob Parsons.
On May 26, 1956, he was united in marriage to Barbara Woodall in Swinton, MO., she survives of the home.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Culpepper of Van Buren MO; one son Darrel Culpepper of Van Buren, MO; three daughters, Peggy Culpepper of Van Buren, MO., Rebecca Hoffman and husband Steven of Jeffersonville, IN., and Christina Wilson and husband Mark of Festus, MO; a daughter-n-law Renata Culpepper; seven grandchildren, Jessica Culpepper and husband Phillip Harmon, Kaylee Swyres and husband Cody, Hannah Scott and husband Daniel, Jenny Blaylock, Derek Baylock, Benjamin Hoffman, and Nathaniel Hoffman; five great grandchildren, Wyatt Harmon, Pepper Harmon, Sylas Swyres, Wrenn Swyres, Hattie Scott; and many relatives and friends who mourn his passing.
In addition to his parents, Ray is preceded in death by one son, Bryan Culpepper and two brothers, Leroy Culpepper and Bobby Culpepper.
A Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the McSpadden Funeral Home in Van Buren, Mo; with the Funeral Services following at 1:00 p.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Gene Edwards will be officiating. Burial will be in the Van Buren City Cemetery in Van Buren, Mo.
