Duncan: Mary Ellen Adkinson, 83, passed away Saturday, December 8, 2018 in Duncan.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, December 12, 2018, at the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Chapel in Marlow. Burial will follow in the Marlow Cemetery under the direction of Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral and Cremation Services in Marlow.
Mary was born Sunday, June 16, 1935 in Marlow, to Roma and Georgia Anna (Gibson) Jacobs. She attended school at Marlow High School and lived in Marlow and Comanche most of her life. Mary married Vinson Adkinson and spend many years together before his passing in June 13, 2003. Mary always kept herself busy and was a hard worker. She held various jobs through the years such as working as a house cleaner, as a waitress, a hotel clerk, and even worked for Halliburton catering. She enjoyed her work at the Ray of Hope Church in Comanche, doing various things such as decorating, floral design, gardening and cooking Frito mexican casserole. She loved helping people and caring for children at a day care center, Delma flowers and for Hardy Brooks at the Chapel and also did elder care. She enjoyed spending time with her family. Mary loved going to church and was a member of the Bible Missionary Church in Duncan.
Survivors include, a son, Vinson Adkinson, Jr. of Comanche, a daughter, Debra Jo Johnson and husband Harold of Duncan, 4 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with her husband, Mary was preceded in death by son, Michael Adkinson, her parents, 2 brothers, Floyd Riley Jacobs, and Donald Jacobs.
