SALISBURY -- Victor J. Olearo III, 46, passed away suddenly Saturday, May 19, 2007, at his home. Born in Summit, N.J., on March 11, 1961, he was a son of the late Victor Olearo Jr. and Lenora T. Rich. He was also the stepson of the Rev. Dr. W. Daniel Rich of Salisbury. In 1975, Victor moved with his family to the Eastern Shore, which he came to love. Having attended school in New Jersey and Delaware, he became a proud graduate of Parkside High School, class of 1981. Victor had several obstacles to overcome in life and he never stopped fighting to overcome them. With the help of his loving family, Lower Shore Enterprises and the Epilepsy Association of the Eastern Shore, he was able to become a successful person and one who had many friends in the area. He always had a cheerful "Hi!" and a firm hug for all who had the privilege of knowing him. Victor worked first at Lower Shore Enterprises and then in several jobs in independent employment. He was currently employed at the Commons at Salisbury University, a job he dearly loved. At one time, he served as president of the Friendship Club, an organization which provides socialization for a very special group of people. Victor was a very generous, caring person, who loved his family and many friends very deeply. He was a great sports fan, especially rooting for the Shorebirds, the Orioles, the Ravens, the Salisbury University football, basketball and lacrosse teams, as well as the Bethesda Church softball teams. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his mother, Lenora T. Rich; his stepdad, the Rev. Dr. W. Daniel Rich of Salisbury; his brother and sister-in-law, Christopher and Ginger Olearo of Henderson, N.C.; his nephew, Robert Olearo; a niece, Katie Olearo, also of Henderson; a nephew, Eric Lane of Mardela Springs; his cousins, Anne and Bob Chichester of Wayne, N.J., and their daughter, Dr. Jessica Chichester of Newark, Thomas and Margaret Dames of Cornwall-on-Hudson and their children, Tom Jr., Michelle, Jeannine and Clarence, and Barbara Mackey of Tarrytown, N.Y. Victor was preceded in death by his father, Victor Olearo Jr.; and a brother, Andre Olearo. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at Holloway Funeral Home P.A. in Salisbury. The Revs. Dale L. Vroman and Dr. W. Daniel Rich will officiate. Friends may call tonight from 7 to 9 and Thursday one hour prior to the service. Interment will be Thursday in Wicomico Memorial Park in Salisbury. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Lower Shore Enterprises Inc., 28745 Owens Branch Road, Salisbury, Md. 21801; or the Epilepsy Association of the Eastern Shore, 688 Main St., Salisbury, Md. 21801.
