Was Cashier of Caledonia Bank (Vermont). Married Martha Osgood Porter in Vermont 18 September 1839.

Died age 31, four years after the birth of his only child Civil War Union Brigadier General Charles Porter Mattocks who was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for extreme bravery at the Civil War Battle of Sailor's Creek.

(In 1850 Henry's widow, Martha Osgood Porter Mattocks, became Isaac Dyer's second wife.)
