A fifth generation Houstonian, Mrs. Allen was a graduate of the 1939 Class of Lamar High School and attended Rice University. A former member of Christ Church Cathedral, she was the daughter she was the daughter of the late Cornelia and John S. Stewart of Houston, Texas. She leaves a daughter, Cornelia Allen Shipp, a son, James Seddon Allen, III, both of Memphis, and a son, John Stewart Allen of Sarasota. She was the sister of the late John S. Stewart, Jr. of Houston. Memorial Services were held at Calvary Episcopal Church, Memphis, on January 3, 2004.
