Ray Hollis Poarch passed away Thursday, April 12, 2018, at the age of 82.
Ray is predeceased by parents, R.E. and Evelyn Minerva (Hollis) Poarch; sisters, Marion Edwards, Margaret "Bonnie" Miller and Beverly Egger.
Ray was a lifelong bachelor and Grand Junction resident.
He is admirably and lovingly remembered by his nephews and nieces and their spouses, Beverly (Bee) Egger; Mark and Michele Miller; Doug and Cheri Miller; Michael and Polly Miller; Susie and Dick Wheeler and Patricia Nichols and Barry Farris, as well as many great-nephews and nieces.
Ray was born in Grand Junction, CO on November 10, 1935. He was a 1953 Grand Junction High School graduate and went on to earn an Associate in Science Degree from Mesa College in 1955. In 1958, Ray was inducted into the U.S. Army and served his country for two years. In 1960, Ray's employment began as a welder for the Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad. He retired in 1994.
Before and after retirement, Ray was an avid collector of classic cars and wide range of other collectibles. He and his niece, Beverly, also traveled internationally and many times to his beloved Las Vegas.
Ray's memorial service will be held at Martin Mortuary, 550 North Ave., Grand Junction, CO on April 28, 2018, 11:00 a.m., followed by a short reception. A private family burial will take place at Orchard Mesa Cemetery.
