Susan Carol Campbell Saavedra
1946 - 2018
Our beloved mother, Susan Carol Campbell Saavedra, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2018. Born August 8, 1946, in Dallas, Texas, to Loyd Wellborn Campbell and Dorothy Lorraine Lacy Campbell, she was the second of four children.
Susan loved The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since she first stepped into the chapel as a young adult. She attended BYU where she met and married Roberto Saavedra. They had three children before they divorced in 1976. Although she wouldn't think so, Susan was one tough cookie. She raised three kids while working and taking night classes. She finally finished her bachelor’s degree at BYU in 1993, at the age of 46. She survived three different cancers and was still always willing to help others.
Susan is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Sid Campbell Sr. She is survived by her three children: Kristen (John) Colson, Gabriela (Jason) Hair, Mike (Christie) Saavedra; and 11 grandchildren; as well as her brother, Loyd (Amy) Campbell, and sister Priscilla Campbell.
