Persico, Daniel M. Sr. RAVENA Daniel M. Persico Sr., 81, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 12, 2011 with his loving family by his side. Dan was a lifelong resident of Ravena. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. For 10 years Dan had worked for the former New York Central Railroad and for 40 years owned and operated Persico Service Station in Ravena. Dan was a member of the Colonie Elk's Lodge, Mother McAuley Council 3424, Knights of Columbus and the Ravena VFW. His favorite pastime was golf. Survivors include his wife, Mary Jane (D'Angelo) Persico; children, Daniel Jr. (Brian Swartz), Peter (Joanna), Catherine and Paul; grandchildren, Nicole, Lauren, Jenna, Hollie, Gregory, Tiffany, Leanna and Monica; brothers, Guy and Salvatore Persico; and a large extended family with numerous nieces and nephews. Daniel was predeceased by his son, Thomas; parents Salvatore and Assunta Persico; sisters, Mary Dardani, Della Frangella and Edith Fisk; and brother Gene Persico. Funeral services will be held 9 a.m. Thursday, June 16 at St. Patrick's Church, Ravena. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Coeymans. Friends may call at the Babcock Funeral Home, Ravena on Wednesday, June 15 from 5 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Coeymans Fire Co., P.O. Box 55, Coeymans, NY 12045.
