Native Victorite Dies at Rock Island, IL.

Mrs. Nannie Belle Strawhorn, 85 of Rock Island, IL., died Feb. 13 at St. Anthony's Hospital. She had been in failing health for several months.

Funeral services were held in Rock Island at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Knox-Larson Funeral Home. The Rev. Dan G. Long, pastor of the Broadway Presbyterian church, officiated. Burial was in the I.O.O.F. cemetery at Victor on Sunday afternoon.

Mrs. Strawhorn was born April 21, 1872 in Victor, a daughter of John and Elizabeth Wallick. Her father was one of Victor's pioneers and was instrumental in interesting others from the east to enter business here, among them the first editor of the Victor Index, of which he was the first subscriber. Mrs. Strawhorn was also a lifelong member of the Victor newspaper. Her father was the originator of the cemetery and the Wallick lot was the first one purchased.

She was married to William Strawhorn Feb. 2, 1891 and they moved to Rock Island 67 years ago. He died in 1932.

Mrs. Strawhorn was a charter member of the South Park Presbyterian Church and Rock Island Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star. She was the oldest living member of the chapter. She was also a life member of Pyramid Chapter, Daughters of the Nile, and the Knights Templar Auxiliary.

Surviving is a daughter, Mrs. Sarah Folk, Rock Island, IL. She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Sunday graveside services at Victor were conducted at 12:30 p.m. by the Rev. Don Yungelas of the Congregational church, Belle Plaine.
