Co-Workers Remember Rex Curry "a man of higher ideals and unsurpassed integrity"

Memorial Day weekend a former United States Marine died at the hands of another. Rex Curry was an employee of Sea Ray Boats and today his friends and co-workers remember him as a person they were fortunate to have known.

Our Friend Rex

On May 26, 2008 the world was done a great injustice. This injustice did not occur in some far away land plagued by warfare, nor in Washington where political indecision divides our nation, rather it occurred right here in our own backyard.

On Memorial Day, the day in which we honor the brave men and women who have fought and died preserving the morally just principles that make our nation great, we must now honor one more of America's fallen heroes and his name is Rex Curry.

Rex established himself as a hero by serving his country with the utmost integrity in the United States Marine Corps. We came to know Rex through his employment at Sea Ray Boats in Vonore. Rex worked as a Quality Assurance Inspector. He not only held the utmost regard to quality at his job, he also held the utmost regard to quality of life as a human being.

Rex possessed a rare insight to the world and the bad that dwells within it. Rex rose above that bad each day by exercising a positive outlook on life and by refusing to focus on negativity.

His intellect and humor were considered "perks of the job" by those of us who were fortunate enough to have had the privilege of working with and associating with him each day. We looked forward to conversing with him and sharing his point of view on current events.

We knew Rex was nearby when laughter and the fragrance of a clove cigarette filled the air.

Rex Curry was a man of higher ideals and unsurpassed integrity. That was and will always be, Our Friend Rex.

As we at Sea Ray mourn the loss of not only our co-worker, but our good friend, we realize that our loss is indeed great. However, those in the world that did not have the privilege of knowing Rex Curry missed out on a unique and wonderful relationship and for this you have suffered a greater loss.

Rex was a writer in his free time. He wrote poems, stories, as well as quotes. One of his quotes we are fond of is "Honesty is the unforgettable roar, rising from the fearless heart of integrity!"

We love you man, and we will deeply miss you.

From all of us at Sea Ray, our thoughts, prayers, and deepest sympathies are with the Curry Family.
