Katherine Lucille “Tootie” (Gunter) Lucas, 77, of Clymer, went home to the loving arms of Jesus her Savior on Wednesday, March 7, 2012. She was at her residence surrounded by her family and close friends.

Born on October 31, 1934, in Jacksonville, Pennsylvania, she was a daughter of the late Lewis and Dorothy (Scott) Gunter.

Katherine had attended Elders-Ridge High School where she graduated in 1952. On June 3, 1956, she married Edward John Lucas, her husband of 55 years. Kathy deeply loved her family and treasured spending time with them. She also enjoyed the visits and company of her many friends. Christmas time held a special place in her heart and she found great joy in decorating and simply being a homemaker, always making her home bright and welcoming.

Katherine was a member of the Purchase Line Church of the Brethren, where she was baptized and rededicated her life to Christ in 2004.

Surviving are her husband, Edward of Indiana; a daughter, Brenda (Larry) Nichol of Glen Campbell; a son, Edward Jr. (Tammy) Lucas of Indiana; six grandchildren: Khristopher (Jeanine) Nichol of Indiana; Brendon Nichol of Rochester Mills; Laura (Chad) Spidell of Spring Mills; Paige, John Michael and McKenzie Lucas all of Indiana; a great-grandson, Zachary James Nichol; her sister, Eleanor Skultety of Lucernemines; two brothers: Richard Gunter of Michigan and Raymond (Mary Ann) Gunter of Johnstown.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Balue; three brothers: Lewis Jr., James and William Gunter.

Friends and family will be received from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, March 10, at the Harry J. Bence Funeral Home in Clymer. Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Brian Spenser officiating. Private interment will take place in Oakland Cemetery in Indiana.
