Barbara attended Tallahassee schools, graduating from Godby High School in 1988. She attended Tallahassee Community College and Florida State University, and graduated from Florida A&M University. After graduation she worked at Capital Regional Medical Center in the Medical Record Department for several years. Barbara was awarded Employee of the month in October 2003.
Two and a half years before her death, Barbara met Gregory Campbell, and moved to Pedro, Ohio to marry him. Among her pursuits in Ohio were raising chickens, rabbits, pigs, and cows.
Survivors include her husband, two stepchildren, three siblings, and nieces and nephews.
