Funeral service will be held at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, P.A. on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with The Very Rev. Gregory L. Powell of Trinity Cathedral officiating. Private burial will follow at the Spring Hill Cemetery.
Elaine was born in Baltimore, Maryland to Nellie Potter Jones and Curtis Hobson Jones. Elaine and her family moved to Easton in 1942. She graduated from Easton High School in 1948. She earned a registered nursing degree from Delaware School of Nursing in 1952. She worked for many years as a registered nurse. In 1982, she began working for the State of Maryland at the Talbot County Health Department, where she became program supervisor of Home Health and Hospice. She was a member of the Trinity Cathedral Church and served on the Altar Guild. She volunteered for Hospice and was a member of the Ladies of the Elks #1622. She enjoyed sewing, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
Elaine is preceded in death by her husband, John W. Gowe, her sister, Judy Newman, her mother, Nellie Potter Jones, and her father, Curtis Hobson Jones. She is survived by her daughters Linda Nelson, Janet Rice, Carol Nester, Pam O’Halloran, and Julie Kirkman, brother-in-law Tom Newman, nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
