Faith A. Riegel, 45, of Oakland, passed away at 2:05 a.m. Monday, Feb. 26, 2007, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.

Order of the Eastern Star Service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday Feb. 28, 2007, at Standard Funeral Home in Oakland, to be followed by the funeral service at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday evening. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Standard Funeral Home. Burial will be held at Sunset Lawn Cemetery in Harrisburg at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 1, 2007.

Faith Adelaide Worden was born on Dec. 15, 1961, in Kew Gardens Hospital in New York City, the daughter of Edson A. and F. Adelaide Warren Worden. She graduated from high school in 1980 from Vestavia Hills, Ala., and later earned her bachelor's degree from Indiana State University in marketing. On July 10, 1982, she married Gary Lee Riegel in Vestavia Hills, Ala.


Survivors include her husband, Gary Riegel of Oakland; one son, Brant Warren Riegel and fiance Daniela Vasquez of Oakland; her mother and father, Edson and Adelaide Worden of Huntsville, Ala.; one brother, Edson Worden and wife Megan of Newbury Port, Mass.; one niece, Meredyth Worden; one nephew, Edson Worden; her father-in-law and stepmother-in-law, Grant and Joan Riegel; and her mother-in-law and stepfather-in-law, Alice and Alan Weed of Benton; and a brother-in-law, Lowell Riegel of Galatia.

Faith was employed by the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana. A great deal of her life was devoted to the Order of the Eastern Star, as a dual member of Tuscola Chapter and Oakland Chapter, a Grand Lecturer, presently serving as Worthy Matron of Tuscola Chapter, and a past Matron of Oakland Chapter. She served the Grand Chapter as a Grand Representative of Manitoba in 2004, and appointed Grand Officer in 2005. She was also a member of the Oakland United Methodist Church, Daughters of the American Revolution, and was a third degree black belt and instructor of the American Taekwondo Association. She enjoyed shopping, swimming, reading, spending time with her dog Cassie, and she was an avid fan of pink flamingos.
