Guido was an honorably discharged Army Veteran having served his country during World War II. After many years of dedicated employment to the Laborers Local #156 AFL-CIO, Guido retired as a Foreman where he worked out of New Brunswick. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf, and he was an avid Yankee Fan. He belonged to the American Legion, Chaumont Post 245 the Atomic Veterans and was very active within the parish of The Church of the Sacred Heart in South Plainfield.
Predeceased by his beloved wife of seventy-two years is Mildred (Sacco) Abbruzzese and by a son, Guido J Abbruzzese Jr. along with five siblings Christine, Orlando, Mario, Julio and Mary Seider. Guido is survived by his children; Mario Abbruzzese and his wife Maureen of South Plainfield, Erminia Dunn and her husband Henry of Sayerville, Marion Durnya and her husband Thomas of South River, Sandra Holowka of South Plainfield, Anna Marie Santiago and her husband Manuel of Monroe Township, Bernadette Thimons of South Plainfield and Denise Figueroa and her husband Jose of South Plainfield. Guido also leaves behind twenty-two grandchildren, thirty-four great grandchildren, his sister Philomena Sommer of South Plainfield, and two sisters-in-laws; Ann Abbruzzese and Mary Gallo.
Visitation will be held in the McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080 on Monday, June 26, 2017 from 4-8 pm and on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 from 8:45 am until 9:15 am. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday, June, 27, 2017 beginning 9:15 am followed by a 10:00 am Mass of Christian Burial at the Church of the Sacred Heart. Mausoleum entombment will follow at Holy Redeemer Cemetery in South Plainfield.
