Harry Hedges, Realtor, Dies
Cedar Rapids News--

  Harry T. Hedges, pioneer realtor who helped plan 70 additions to the city of Cedar Rapids, died Friday night in a nursing home at Evanston, Ill. He was 84.
  Mr. Hedges, whose residence was at 2225 Ridgeway Dr. SE, was president of the Hedges Co. before it became Hedges Associates, Inc.
  He was active in many organizations and held 50-year, charter, and life memberships in many of them. He came to Cedar Rapids 5 years after he was born Oct. 17, 1876, near Durant. He was married to Fannie M. Besler who preceded him in death Feb. 25, 1958.
  Mr. Hedges was president of the Florida Land and Timber Co., a vice-president of the Linn County Abstract Co. and a director of the Cedar Rapids Building and Loan Assn.
  Mr. Hedges was a 50-year member of the Mt. Hermon Lodge 263 AF & AM, the Iowa Consistory, Trowel Chapter 49 RAM, Palestine Council 27 R & SM and Apollo Commandery 26 KT.
  His life memberships included the El Kahir Shrine, Malta Chapter 415 OES, Knights of Pythias and the State Historical Society.
  He was a charter member of the Kiwanis club and a charter honorary member of the Cedar Rapids Real Estate Assn.
  Mr. Hedges was the oldest living member of the YMCA and had served on the board of trustees and was a member of the Old Timers club of the YMCA.
  He was also a member of the First Presbyterian church, the Cedar Rapids Country club, Chamber of Commerce, Cedar Rapids Executive Assn., and the advisory council of the Salvation Army.
  Surviving are a son, George H. Hedges of Wilmette, Ill., 2 grandchildren; a brother, Horace G. Hedges, and a sister, Mrs. Franklin Peddie, Cedar Rapids.
  Services: Turner chapel at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday by Dr. Francis W. Pritchard. Burial in Oak Hill cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel after 11 a.m. Monday.
