Mrs. Sherrouse was a charter member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. She was active in the Altar Guild and the United Methodist Women. She helped to establish the Memorial Garden at St. Paul's. She was an editor of "Garden for Southern Seasons" published by the Monroe Garden Study League. She was a member of the Junior League of Monroe, the Monroe Garden Club, the Monroe Garden Study League, the Monroe Beautification Board and Junior Study Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles E. and Carrie Perry McKenzie; and two grandsons, Charles Chambless Cordell and Paul Chambless Miller.
She was survived by three daughters, Susan Cordell and husband Hardeman, Jane Miller and husband Jerry, and Ann Webster and husband Robert; two sisters Eleanor Thompson and Barbara Venable; one brother, Charles E. McKenzie; 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
