Later in her life she became a school teacher and taught in the 1920's in Craig County.
She was the widow of Arthurdine Caldwell Abbott. Survivors include a son, Dean T. Abbott of Salem; a daughter and son-in-law, Rose A. and Donald Hussey of Roanoke; a grandson, Eric S. Hussey and his wife, Susan, of Richmond; a granddaughter, Heather C. Hussey of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a great-granddaughter, Heather R. Anderson of Richmond; a brother, Nelson Trerice of Bermuda; cousins, A. Corinne Trerice of Ontario, Canada, Peggy Covach and her husband, Les, of Randolph, N.J.; nephews, Louis T. Hughes and his wife, Joanne of Spokane, Wash., Jarvis T. Hughes and his wife, Jessie, of Pasadena, Md.; a niece, Beth Retallack and her husband, Dale, of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada; also several brothers and sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; and friends in the U.S. and Canada.
There will be a gathering of friends and family for a Celebration of Life service at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 2, 1997, at Sherwood Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity. Arrangements by John M. Oakey & Son, Salem.
