Orville Jackson Canaday born December 14, 1921 in Surveyor, WV, passed away on May 1, 2017. He was the son of the late E.K. and Sarah Jane Canaday.

In addition to his parents, Jack is preceded in death by his brothers, Kenneth and Earl, and sister, Lockie.

Jack served in the U.S. Army in WWII as a Corporal and medic in the battle of the Bulge. He returned home after service and married Ruby (Cricket) Petry and had three daughters, Jennifer Stump, Susan Kiblinger and Jean Dunkle. All his daughters were registered nurses. He had three son-in-laws, (deceased) Eugene Stump, Robert Kiblinger and Randal Dunkle; six grandchildren, Bob Kiblinger and wife, Jennifer, Cindy Fernald and husband, John, Debra Vaught and husband, Christopher and Eugene Jr. (Rocky) Stump and wife, Stacy, Heather Allen and Jessica Branham; seven great-grandchildren, Benji Kiblinger, Ryan and Cooper Vault, Connor and Brenna Stump, Brooklyn and Maddy Branham and John and Lauren Fernald.

Jack made his home in MacArthur with daughter, Jennifer. He was a member of the Oak Grove Christian Church and each Sunday they would bring communion to him and prayers. We want to thank them for their faithfulness.

He was a patient of Hospice and really enjoyed the nurses, aids and social service that came regularly to visit. His favorite hospice caregiver was Connie Smith. Jack had a caregiver he considered his daughter, Charlotte Parks who was very good to him and he loved her.

Jack loved family and especially when we all got together to play music, eat or play set back. He could play any instrument by ear, fiddle, guitar, banjo and mandolin. He really loved his grandchildren.

Services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, May 4, 2017 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
