Survived by her beloved son, of Boston; her parents, Daniel M. and Patricia Rooney of Pittsburgh; three sisters, two brothers-in-law, four brothers and their wives and 19 of her adored nieces and nephews.
Rita was a graduate of Brown University and received her law degree from the University of Pittsburgh Law School in 1983. Rita practiced law in Pittsburgh, Dublin, Ireland, and most recently in Boston. Rita was the Director of Faith Formation at St. Elizabeth's Church in Milton, MA and was attending Boston College for a Master's Degree in Theology. May her soul rest in eternal peace as she was deeply loved by her family and friends.
Visitation Friday 2-8 p.m. at the DEVLIN FUNERAL HOME, 806 Perry Highway, Pittsburgh, PA 15229. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, December 8, 2012 at noon at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church in Pittsburgh, PA. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Elizabeth's Roman Catholic Church in Milton, MA in the near future. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Catholic Charities, Pittsburgh, PA or the Salvation Army Western Pennsylvania Division.
