Robert Stanley Wyant, 82, of New Kensington, died Monday (Jan. 12, 2004) in Presbyterian Senior Care, Oakmont. Born March 17, 1921, in Kittanning, he lived in New Kensington 60 years. A veteran, he served in World War II with the Army in the southern Philippines, Luzon and New Guinea. He received the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, World War II Victory Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and four bronze stars. Mr. Wyant was a foreman and operating engineer at Burrell Construction Company of New Kensington, for 43 years before retiring in 1984. He was a member of United Presbyterian Church and the Masons, both in New Kensington, a charter member of the American Legion, Lower Burrell, and a member of the Scottish Rite, Pittsburgh, and the Syria Temple, Cheswick. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Elsie Irene Cowan Wyant; a son, David R. (Cynthia) Wyant of Plum; and a sister, Edna Shalkoski of New Kensington. He also is survived by two grandchildren, Scott and Christine Wyant; and a great-granddaughter, Jessica Lynn Wyant. He was preceded in death by his parents, David R. and Florence Richey Wyant; and a sister, Madalyn Bartholf. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., New Kensington, where services will be conducted at 9 a.m. Thursday. Her pastor, the Rev. Norma Prina-Murphy, will officiate. Private burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park Mausoleum, Lower Burrell.
