Garrett was a beautiful, kind, and gentle soul. He is greatly missed.

"Garrett W. Young, 35, of Duluth, died Thursday, June 26, 2014 at Essentia St. Mary's with his family by his side, after a brief illness.
Garrett was born July, 25, 1978 in Duluth to John D. and Kathleen (Hill) Young Sr. He attended Duluth Central and work for several years as a cook at Outback Steakhouse. Garrett enjoyed playing pool; he was very talented artist. He cartooned, drew and worked with clay.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Marlene Young and just recently, his grandfather, Elmer Hill.
Garrett is survived by his mother, Kathleen (Ronald Murray) Hern of Duluth; father, John D. Young Sr. of Duluth; siblings, John D. Young Jr. of Ohio, Bryan D. R. Powers of Duluth and Andrew E. N. Powers of Mpls, MN; nephew, John D. Young III; his grandmother, Mary Ann Hill of Duluth and many, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be Monday from 5-7pm in the Dougherty Funeral Home, where visitation will continue Tuesday from 12 noon to the 1pm services (casual dress is welcome).
Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home, 600 E 2nd St. Duluth, (218) 727-3555."
