Bill R. Disney, 75, 1905 Vicksburg Court, passed away at 4:40 a.m. Friday, Jan. 26, 2007, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Bill was born Jan. 8, 1932 in Harrisburg to Joe Wheeler and Justine Humphrey Disney. He married Connie Phillips of Ridgway on Nov. 19, 1960 in Carbondale.

He is survived by his wife, Connie of Pekin; one son, Brian (Lisa) Disney of Peoria; one daughter, Jo (Aaron) Johnson of Morton; five grandchildren, Rachel, Alyssa and Valerie Disney of Peoria and Will and Ava Johnson of Morton; one brother, Don (Naida) Disney of Peoria; two sisters, Mary Jane (Robert) Greiner of Peoria and Linda (Robert) Goodall of Normal.


He was preceded in death by one son, Michael P. Disney on Nov. 13, 2002.

A proud graduate of Muddy Grade School and Harrisburg High School, he worked at Caterpillar prior to serving in the U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1956. He then attended and graduated from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. He taught in Virden from 1961 to 1967 and was a counselor at Pekin Community High School from 1967 to 1992. Following his retirement he worked at Menard's in the electrical department until 2001.

Bill was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church. He also belonged to the National Education Association, Illinois Retired Teachers and the American Legion.



Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, 2007, at Grace United Methodist Church in Pekin. The Rev. Gary Ford will officiate. Private burial will be Monday in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin. Visitation will be from 2 to 3:45 p.m. Sunday at the church. Henderson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
