CURRIE, REV. JOSEPH A., S.J., 80 years, of Loyola Jesuit Community, died suddenly on March 3, 2017 in Phila., PA. Born 1938 in Bala Cynwyd, PA, he was the son of the late Charles and Elizabeth (Harper) Currie. He is survived by his brothers; Rev. Charles Currie, S.J., Georgetown Jesuit Community, Washington, DC, and Rev. Robert Currie, S.J. Managua, Nicaragua. Preceded in death by his brother John and sister Gertrude (Currie) Gargan. Entered the Society of Jesus 1955 in Wernersville, PA., from 1963-1985 was a missionary in Jamshedpur, India, and was ordained a priest there in 1968. Returning to America, he served as Spiritual Director and Campus Minister at Georgetown University, Washington, DC; Manresa on Severn, MD; Loyola University, New Orleans, LA; Fordham University, Bronx, NY; Superior of Jesuit Center Wernersville, PA, and until his death was a Member of the Mission and Identity Office at Chestnut Hill College, Chestnut Hill, PA.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, March 9 in St. Matthias Church, 128 Bryn Mawr Ave., Bala Cynwyd, PA from 6 - 9 P.M., and on Friday morning in church from 11:30 A.M. - 12:15 P.M. Funeral Mass at 12:30 P.M. Int. SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA. Arr. DINAN FUNERAL HOME, PHILA., PA
