John Martin Weaver was the son of John and Ann Margaret "Maggie" (Houseman) Weaver. He had at least two younger siblings, William Charles Weaver and Edna M. (Weaver) Stewart.

John married Vera Rose Hamm, daughter of Jacob Mark and Gertrude Ann (Dimond) Hamm, in Manhattan, NY on Aug. 9, 1905. They divorced in Pittsburgh, PA on Oct. 16, 1914. They had no children.

John married Ida Mendenhall Flemer in Cook County, Illinois on Sep. 18, 1916. She brought a young daughter, Irene R. Flemer to the marriage. They had no living biological children together.

At his death, John was the proprietor of a radiator shop. His brother, William, lived with him in Chicago. In 1940, on the Federal Census, John is listed as widowed, but on his 1940 death certificate, john is listed as "D" for divorced.
