When Jame's younger sister, Gladys, was about 18 years old, their father Cyrus left and never returned. They never knew what happened to him.
James' first wife was Florence Evelyn Carey; they married 25 Aug 1914 in Leavenworth, KS and they had one son, James Barnett Anderson, Jr. Later they divorced; 1920 census shows her divorced and back with her parents. He then married Gertrude M Schultz 9 May 1925 Kansas City, Jackson, MO and they had no children. Gertrude M Schultz died 6 Aug 1953 buried in same cemetery.

Christian, 3714 Broadway, and three grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 o'clock Tuesday at the Blackman chapel, 2825 Independence boulevard."
The three grandchildren he was survived by were born to son, James Jr. and wife, Grace -- Larry James Anderson, Carol Jean Anderson, and Marjorie Jean Anderson.
