Playwright and Theatre Director. Son of the great actress Sarah Bernhardt (1844-1923) and Belgian aristocrat Henry Maximilian Joseph of Ligne (1824-1871). Author of several plays starring his mother. Director of successive plays at théâtre de l'Ambigu (1882-1883), théâtre de la Porte-Saint-Martin (1883-1884) and, finally, théâtre Sarah-Bernhard, formerly the théâtre des Nations which City of Paris granted to Sarah Bernhardt's leadership, following her successful five-year leadership of théâtre de la Renaissance.
