Death Saturday Evening Of Mr. D. R. Laird
The death occurred Saturday evening at his home in the Cavendish Apartments, Charlottetown of Mr. David Rennie Laird in his 84th year. A retired bank manager, his death came after only a brief illness.
He was the eldest son of the late Hon. David Laird and Mrs. Laird of Charlottetown. He was educated here and then joined the bank of Nova Scotia, advancing until he became branch manager. He was in charge of branches at Summerside, Hamilton, Ont., Vancouver, B.C. and Amherst, N.S., retiring some 15 to 20 years ago when he was located at the latter town.
He is survived by a daughter, Miss Lethe Laird, Charlottetown and a son, Arthur G. Laird, Summit, New Jersey. His wife, the former Alethe Gunn, of Summerside, and a son, David Sidney Laird, predeceased him.

n addition to his children he is survived by a sister, Mrs. D. H. Laird, Winnipeg, and two brothers, William C. Laird, also of Winnipeg and Dr. A. Gordon Laird of Madison, Wis., U.S.A. He was a brother of Mrs. John A. Mathieson of Charlottetown. A brother, Harold Laird also died some years ago.
The funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon from the home of a niece, Mrs. Dora Campbell, 1 Grafton Street. Burial will be in Sherwood Cemetery.
