Born April 27, 1923, in Rural Valley, Armstrong County, she was the daughter of the late Owen N. and Olive M. (Boyer) Reefer.
Mary lived in the Apollo area all of her life. She was a graduate of Apollo High School. Mary was employed by the United States Postal Service for 10 years as a rural carrier before retiring in 1985. She was a member of the Apollo United Presbyterian Church. Mary enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved gardening, sewing, cooking and baking bread and pies.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Audley D. Kinter; brothers, Ray and Ivan Reefer; and a sister, Martha Doutt.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, 14 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren with two on the way; and a sister, Helen Colwell, of Texas.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2017, in the CURRAN-SHAFFER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 100 Owens View Ave., Apollo, where the funeral service will take place at 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, 2017, with the Rev. Lea Austin. Private burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Apollo.
