Anna Muriel King

Anna “Anne” Muriel King, 90, passed away peacefully on January 13 after a brief illness. She was surrounded by her children and loved ones. Anne was the devoted wife of the late Lt. Col. Harold R. King, Sr. She was a world traveler, an enthusiastic Anglophile with an encyclopedic knowledge of world history, and a constant source of love and inspiration to her beloved children and extended family. Born in Fordsville, Kentucky, on October 20, 1926, Anne’s family moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan, where she fell in love with Harold R. King while in high school. Soon they embarked on a love affair that would span more than fifty years of marriage, until his passing in 2000.

Anne’s fierce intelligence and wit lives on in her surviving children, who will lead her memorial service at 4:00PM on Saturday, January 21st in Couch Chapel at First Methodist Church of Shreveport.

Anne was preceded in death by her husband, Harold R. King, Sr. and her oldest son, Harold R. King, Jr. She is survived by her loving children Richard King, Linda Conway, Nancy “Casey” Lanzillotti and David King, and daughter-in-law Elaine King, all of Shreveport/Bossier; Mark King of Baltimore, Maryland; sister Carrol Dykema (Andy), of Grand Rapids, Michigan; sister-in-law Eleanor Mesler of New Hampshire; and a host of loving grandchildren, great- and great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests gifts in her honor to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the Stephen Ministry of First United Methodist Church of Shreveport,
