Nellie Katherine Winters Peek passed away peacefully on November 8, 2016.

Nell was born March 4, 1935 in Salt Lake City to Elizabeth Louise Bennett Winters and Elwood Grant Winters. She was a lovely child with curly hair — the envy of her sisters. Nell always had a free spirit, light heart, and an easy laugh.

Nell graduated from West High School, where she was an Honor Roll student and class officer. She married Noel Clarke Peek in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on August 26, 1954.

Together, they often enjoyed entertaining and taking friends to the family cabin in Brighton, where they made fond and lasting memories. In addition to Noel, the loves of her life were her three dogs: Tiffany, Nina, and Ellie. We know they have been patiently waiting for her and their reunion was joyful.

Nell was employed as a secretary for many years with family-owned Bennett Paint & Glass Company and, later, for longer than a decade, with Utah Education Association.

In her retirement, Nell traveled to Shanghai with her sister, Jayne, toured Scotland, and cruised to Alaska with close friends. At home in Murray, her friends, neighbors, and LDS ward members were dear to her. Nell had a talent for making close friends and she will be truly missed.

Nell is survived by her sister and loving caregiver during her later years, Mary Ann Stringfellow (Wendell); sister, Rosella Stolk (Nick); sister, Jayne Fife (Paul); and many nieces and nephews who loved her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Noel, on July 12, 1988; and brothers, John Bennett Winters (Elissa) and Richard Keith Winters (Mary).

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the wonderful professionals at Legacy House of Bountiful for their kind and loving care.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, November 14, 2016 at Wasatch Lawn, 3401 South Highland Drive (1450 East), East Millcreek. A celebration of her life will be held with friends and family one hour prior to the funeral.
Interment will follow.

Nell's wish was for everyone, in lieu of flowers, to please donate to the Humane Society of Utah to save an animal from homelessness and abuse.
