Sharptown-Robert Carlton "Bob" Adkins, Sr., 71, of Sharptown, died Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.

Born September 23, 1945 in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Marion Carlton Adkins and Dorothy Mae Moore Adkins.

Mr. Adkins served in the US Air Force and worked for many years as a self-employed long distance truck driver. He was a member of American Legion Dor-Wic Post #218 in Sharptown, a forty five year member of Sharptown Volunteer Fire Company, one of the organizing members of Mardela High School Band Aids and Bingo Mania. He was a staff member of Maryland State Good Sam RV Association and a member of Eastern Shore Seagulls RV Chapter, R&R RV Chapter, Red Knights Chapter Three and H.O.G. Delmarva Chapter in Seaford.

He is survived by three sons, Tommy Adkins and wife Sue of Salisbury, JR. Adkins and wife Christina of Sharptown, and Billy Adkins and wife Sheila of Sharptown; two granddaughters, Caitlin Adkins and Elise Adkins; four brothers, Frank Adkins of Laurel, Tommy Adkins of Nanticoke, Alton Adkins of Salisbury, and Marion Adkins of Salisbury; nieces and nephews; and a special companion, Mary O. Mackinnon and her son, Chuck Campbell of Salisbury.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Walker Adkins who died on December 6, 2011 and a sister, Eloise Yount.

Funeral services will be held Monday, November 7, 2016 at 12:00PM at Sharptown Firemen's Memorial Building where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Chaplain Gary Trader will officiate. Interment will follow in Sharptown Firemen's Cemetery.

Phil Adkins, Howard Bowden, Chuck Campbell, Daniel Bebee, Jessie Ennis, Dana Walker, Edward Kukta, and John "Butterball" Tartufo will serve as pallbearers.

Memorial donations may be made to Sharptown Fire Department, P. O. Box 307, Sharptown MD 21861.

Arrangements are in the care of Zeller Funeral Home in East New Market.
