News has been received in the desert of the death of Julian M. Bamberger, who died of a heart ailment in a Salt Late City hospital. Bamberger, 78, and his wife, Edith, were winter residents of Palm Springs for many years and participated in various social activities throughout the winter season. One year they were sponsors of the annual WAIF ball. He was a member of Kiwanis. It was in Salt Lake City, however, that Bamberger became prominent in industry, business, politics and civic affairs. For many years he was president of the Bamberger Railroad Co., founded by his father, former Utah Governor Simon Bamberger, had also served as president of the Salt Lake Terminal Co., Lagoon Resort, Salt Lake Valley Loan and Trust Co., the Raymond Elywest Mining Co., the DeLaMar Mining Co., —at one time a fabulous gold producer of Southern Nevada—and several other mining companies. He also was a member of the Democratic Party and served in the Utah Senate from 1932 to 1936. In addition to his widow, Bamberger is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Allen T. Shott Jr. of Salt Lake City, and Mrs. Julian Lesser of Los Angeles, the daughter-in-law of Sol Lesser, prominent local resident.
