Professional Baseball Player. Born John Joseph Orsino, he was a catcher for the San Francisco Giants, Baltimore Orioles, and the Washington Senators during a seven year career from 1961 to 1967. He was signed by the then New York Giants as an amateur free agent before the 1957 season. He began his major league career in 1961 with the San Francisco Giants and played for them for two seasons. On August 23, 1961, he was a part of a record-setting game against the Cincinnati Reds when he, along with teammates Willie Mays, Jim Davenport, Felipe Alou, and Orlando Cepeda homered in the top of the ninth inning to beat the Reds by a score of 14–0. His homer was the last in the game and drove in three runs. In 1963 he joined the Baltimore Orioles, where he had his best season, playing in 116 games and batting .272, with 19 home runs and 56 RBIs. He stayed in Baltimore through the 1965 season. He then played for the Washington Senators from 1966 to 1967. He batted .249 for his career, with 40 home runs and 123 RBIs. Following his retirement from baseball, he became a golf pro in his native state of New Jersey. He later coached men's golf at Florida Atlantic from 2004 – 2006.
