The Lewistown Democrat (MT), 10 Nov 1898
Mabel Ayers
The eleven year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Ayers died at the home of Mrs. Frost, of McDonald Creek, Mont., Nov. 1st, 1898. Although her health had been very poor for the past year her sudden death caused a sad shock to her family and many friends.
Mabel seemed to be improving in health and on Sunday preceding her death was allowed to accompany her brother to visit their friends in the neighborhood of their old home. Mabel spent the day cheerfully, but in the evening was suddenly taken ill, and although her parents were sent for, and she was given all the medical aid possible, she failed to recover.
Her parents have the sympathy of many friends in their bereavement.
The funeral took place in the Methodist church, Lewistown. Rev. J. Vigus preached from the words "Cut Down Like a Flower." In his remarks he spoke of the beautiful and sublime in life that seeks, though of short duration, to influence other lives. The funeral was well attended.
