JUNIUS HAYES DIED SATURDAY

Former Citizen of Charlotte Passes at Home of His Son in High Point.

Junius W. Hayes, for years a well-known citizen of Charlotte, but for the past two years a resident of High Point, died at the home of his son, Dr. William A. Hayes of High Point, Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock. The funeral services were conducted at High Point at 7:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon and the body was to arrive in Charlotte on Southern train No. 137 at 9:30 o'clock Sunday morning. From the train the body is to be taken to the Harry undertaking establishment, where it will remain until 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon, at which time the burial service will be conducted at the graveside in Elmwood Cemetery. Rev.
C. P. Coble, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of High Point, conducted the service there and Rev. Dr. Albert Sidney Johnson, pastor of the First Presbyterian church here, will conduct the burial service in Elmwood.

Mr. Hayes was born in Charlotte and was a son of the late Dr. and Mrs. William J. Hayes of this city. He was born September 16,1848. On September 16,1873, he married Miss Lucie Morrow, of near Pineville, this county, Mr. Hayes formerly owned, by inheritance, from his father, much of the land on which the Chadwick-Hoskins suburb now stands. Mr. Hayes was a large land owner and from time to time engaged in farming near Pineville and in other sections, but lived in Charlotte in later years.

Surviving Mr. Hayes are two sons and one daughter. The sons are Montrose W. Hayes, of the United States Weather Bureau at St. Louis; Dr. William A. Hayes, of High Point. Mr. Hayes retired from business some years ago. About two years ago he went to live with his son at High Point. Mrs. Hayes died some years ago.

Pallbearers at the burial service here will be: J. A. Russell, W. L. Wallis, A. W. Brown, Thomas W. Alexander, Jr., James T. Porter, and W. J. Torrence.
